Jean Louis Bancel is a recognized cooperative banker. He was a Board member and President of Crédit Coopératif from 2000 To 2020, Chair of the International Cooperative Banking Association (ICBA) from 2006 to 2015 and of the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF) from 2001 to 2005. He worked as Secretary-General of ‘Groupement des Entreprises Mutuelles d’Assurances’ (trade body of non-life mutual insurance) from 1997–2004 and is a former civil servant of the French Ministry of Finance in various senior positions. Mr Bancel was President of Cooperatives Europe from 2017 to 2021 and Board member of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) from 2005 to 2021. He is the current Chair of Coop FR, the National Federation of French Co-operatives.
